Rotherham United Women Football Club (RUWFC) is excited to announce its first ever ‘Her Game Too’ inaugural football shield on 11 May with a 7pm kick off.

The annual match will be held at Rotherham United’s home ground the AESSEAL New York Stadium.

This will be first match of its kind, which will see RUWFC take on Mansfield Town Ladies FC on Thursday 11 May at 7pm with gates opening from 6pm.

The match is working in partnership with pioneering women-in-sport organisation ‘Her Game Too’ and will see representatives attend on the night.

To add to the occasion, both teams will be playing to win a unique ‘Her Game Too’ shield.

Jamie Noble, Chairman at Rotherham United Women’s Football Club, said: “I am so pleased to announce that the very first ‘Her Game Too Shield’ will be held at Rotherham United’s AESSEAL New York Stadium.

“The match on Thursday 11 May against Mansfield Ladies will be the first of its kind and after this year will be an annual match with both teams playing to win a unique Her Game Too shield.

“The match falls after a fantastic and historic year for women’s football for not only the RUWFC but in women’s football in general after the Lionesses’ success at last year’s EUROS.

“I would like to say a big thank you to Tony Stewart, Paul Douglas, Steve Coakley, Sam Ramsden and David Fellows at Rotherham United who have helped to get the match over the line with all the logistical processes that goes into hosting a fixture.

“We’re also delighted to be working alongside pioneering women’s football organisation Her Game Too who will be also be attending the match.

“We’ve worked hard to get the match across the line and arrange logistics so it’s fantastic that we’re able to host such an exciting game and add a new competition to the women’s footballing calendar.

“We’re now looking forward to the match and we look forward to seeing you there on what promises to be a fantastic night for women’s football!”
