Player To Coach Programme

New Player to Coach programme launched

For female players aged 14+ wanting to get into coaching

The Sheffield & Hallamshire County FA Player to Coach (P2C) programme is designed to increase the number of female coaches in our region by providing an opportunity for female players to transition from playing to coaching.

As the Lionesses captured the hearts of an entire nation at the Women's Euro 2022, the tournament inspired more women and girls to play football in our region with a 10 percent rise in registered female players recorded ahead of the 2023/24 season.

But with only 7 percent of qualified coaches being female in our County, it’s clear we need more volunteers, coaches and role models to help deliver football and inspire the next generation to fall in love the game. Our goal is for every female team in our region to have at least one female coach.

If you’re a female player coming to the end of your playing career or you want to get into coaching alongside playing, then we want to give you the support, guidance and information you need to take the next step. Keep scrolling to find out how we can help.

What is the P2C programme?

Organised to support current and former women and girls’ players aged 14+, the P2C programme involves participants attending two face-to-face events and provides coaches with the skills and characteristics required to kick off their coaching career in the grassroots game.

Why should I get involved?

Coaches who enrol onto the P2C programme will get access to bespoke support, with the programme delivered by a team of experienced female coaches who will deliver a mix of practical and theoretical learning through two short modules.

Once you’ve completed the two modules, you will get the opportunity to join our female coaches community and learn from other females who are involved in coaching within the game.

When does the programme start?

The P2C programme kicks off in March 2024 with two workshops taking place on the below dates:

I’ve never played or coached football before, but I want to take my first steps into coaching football.

We’ve recently launched the next cohort of our free Stepping over the Sidelines programme. The programme is designed to encourage women with no playing or coaching experience to take their first steps into coaching football. Find out more by clicking here.
