What is Women’s recreational football?
It is football that is based around fun, fitness, and friends. It is commitment free and aimed at women aged 16 and above. It can be walking football, exercise sessions that include a ball, coached sessions for beginners, a small sided kickabout – it literally is ‘play your way’. It isn’t weekly training and a competitive match on a weekend with a team that is part of a league.
Every single session will look and feel different, the key is to tailor the session to what the women want. It’s a bit of a blank page, let them write whatever makes them happy and keeps them returning.

Get involved with women’s sessions in the local area
There are plenty of ways to get involved in women's recreational, from setting up a session, playing, refereeing and coaching.
Our league has now run for two seasons, it is built on being fun and friendly, with a sprinkling of competitiveness. It is 5 a side with games of 40 minutes and a 10-minute half time break. Each team nominates a player of the match, and the winner gets a treat for their recognition.
