It is with great sadness that we must inform the football family of the passing of current Sheffield & Hallamshire County FA Council Member and ex-Director of the Board, John Preen.

John sadly passed away on the evening of Sunday 19th February after a short illness.

John was a devoted servant to grassroots football in the Sheffield & Hallamshire region, dedicating over 60 years of his life to the local game in various capacities.

Commenting on the sad news, Interim Chair Brian Coddington said: “John was a fantastic advocate of grassroots football and his passion and dedication for growing and improving the game was clear for all to see. This was reflected at the Sheffield & Hallamshire County FA, where he made a significant contribution to grassroots football in our region as a Council Member and Director. He will be sadly missed by the entire football community.”
