Rotherham Coaching Bursary

Coaching bursary opens in Rotherham

The bursary is available to cover the full cost of the FA's Introduction to Coaching Football course

There will be more women and girls qualified to coach football in Rotherham thanks to a bursary scheme on offer as part of the UEFA Women’s Euro 2022 legacy programme.

Women and girls (aged 16 and over) can apply for a £160 bursary that will cover the full cost of the Football Association’s Introduction to Coaching Football course. It is part of legacy plans to get more women and girls playing, coaching and volunteering in the sport, which includes doubling the number of women coaching in the district.

Individuals already involved with a club – or looking to get involved with a club – can apply, with applications open until 11.59pm on Monday 28 February. Applications will be assessed on the impact that can be made on football in Rotherham.

“The excitement for the Women’s Euro 2022 coming to Rotherham is continuing to build, and it will be fantastic to have some of the best players in Europe representing their country here in Yorkshire,” said Lisa Moseley, Development Manager at Yorkshire Sport Foundation.

“All of those players wouldn’t have been able to achieve what they have without the support of coaches. This bursary scheme will help to increase the number of qualified coaches in Rotherham, and in turn play its part in providing more opportunities for women and girls to play the game.”
