It is with sadness that we report the recent passing of ex Independent Non-Executive Director of the Sheffield & Hallamshire County FA Stephen Smith MBE .

Stephen (Steve) was a legal legend in South Yorkshire, appearing before courts representing many high profile clients in a career that spanned more than five decades.

Steve was also an accomplished after dinner speaker and Author of many books.

He was made an MBE in 2006 for his services to charity and granted the freedom of the borough of Rotherham in 2011.

Steve was the first Independent Non-Executive Director of the County FA after being appointed by the board in October 2014, During his 2 years on the board Steve had a positive influence among his peers.

Steve lived in Wombwell with his wife, Jennifer and we offer our condolences to her and all their family.
