We spoke with local referee Craig Holland;

"I’ve officiated on Rotherham & District Sunday League for over 5 seasons now and this was my first experience of refereeing.  This league was my way in to the wider refereeing world and gave me first-hand knowledge of dealing with players and club officials. It’s a great place to learn and develop in terms of communication and vital man management skills that are essential if you wish to progress further within the game”.

‘Remaining part of the game’ is the most common reason why our referees decided to take up the whistle.  Being able to put your boots on, on a Sunday morning and help others enjoy a game of football is well worth it.  Teamwork and fitness are just a few of the other reasons why people enjoy being part of the referee team.
