SHCFA Welcome Claire MacRory

New County FA Safeguarding Officer

Sheffield & Hallamshire County FA are delighted to welcome Claire MacRory as our new Designated Safeguarding/Welfare Officer. Claire joins the SHCFA team with the goal to really raise the awareness and improve the profile of Safeguarding across the county and increase the work the County FA are part of.

Originally from Leicester, Claire has previously held safeguarding roles with local authorities and has also been a consultant and trainer for a charity. This past experience will allow Claire to bring a wealth of knowledge to this position as well as a host of new ideas and initiatives to help develop the County FA Safeguarding Department.

On joining SHCFA and her new role, Claire stated "I really enjoy Safeguarding and find it a fascinating subject so i am really looking forward to this starting. I am also looking forward to being part of a dynamic organisation that is looking to move forward and i am excited to be part of that."

Around the challenges and aims of the role, Claire explained "The biggest challenge would be dealing with the number of people involved in football across the county and being able to support and develop their understanding of safeguarding. The main priority is to raise awareness of safeguarding policies, procedures and best practice and ensure people across the county know how to deal with incidents when they occur."

From all at Sheffield & Hallamshire County FA, we would like to welcome Claire and wish her all the best for her new role.
