All Nations Football Festival
FURD's (Football Unites Racism Divides) annual All Nations Football Festival will take place at the U-Mix Centre on Saturday 4th August 2018 between 1pm and 5pm. This 5-a-side tournament is particularly geared towards promoting the inclusion of refugees and asylum-seekers in football, but players of all backgrounds are welcome to enter. The day will feature an adult 5-a-side football tournament, Streetkick, information and advice stalls and food and drink stalls. Advice will be available for players interested in getting involved in more organised football. “Football is one of the things that many recent arrivals to our city share with the wider community, so it’s a great way for people to meet people from different backgrounds. Many people find playing football is also a way to forget their problems for a while, to improve their physical and mental health and self-esteem” FURD’s tournament has been running since 2003 to provide not just a one off opportunity to play football but also provide players with information and advice on how to get involved on a more regular basis. “It’s fantastic to be able to support this event and show how football can bring people and communities together” Sarah Wood, Football Development Manager at Sheffield & Hallamshire County FA. |
