Coaching Female players

Coaching Female Players: The Psychological Corner

Sarah Wood
Developing appropriate sessions for your players

It’s important to develop players across The FA four corner player development model.  Football is traditionally steeped in coaching within the technical, tactical and physical corners of long term player development. However alongside the “hardware” we have a responsibility to develop the “software”, the psychological and social corners

This workshop will give you a better understanding of how to coach within the psychological corner.  It will give you a chance to observe our tutors deliver coaching sessions to young female players and see how players can develop skills and strategies to help shape the right mentality.

We aim to develop reflective, resourceful and resilient players who display outstanding:

- Confidence
- Creativity
- Concentration
- Communication
- Control
- Commitment

The roadshows will take place at the following venues and times and will be delivered by Richard Meek (SHU Women’s High Performance Centre Coach Development Officer), Dean Smith (FA Mentor & Affiliate Tutor), Andy Beaglehole (FA Mentor & Affiliate Tutor) and Ben Hardaker (Football Development Officer & FA Affiliate Tutor):

- Tuesday 15th January, 6.30-8.30pm – Hillsborough College, S6 2ET
- Thursday 17th January, 6-8pm – Adwick Leisure Centre, DN6 7QF
