Sheffield & Hallamshire CFA to host next FA Girls’ Football Festival

Wednesday 27th September at Keepmoat Stadium, 9:30am - 5:15pm

After a number of successful events this year, the FA are delighted to announce that Sheffield & Hallamshire County FA is next in line to host The FA Girls’ Football Festival. Over 300 girls from across Doncaster are expected to arrive at Keepmoat Stadium on Wednesday 27th September to take part in the festival. Combining football, lifestyle and music, the event will have a whole range of activities, including batak boards, 5-a-side games, a refereeing workshop as well as hair braiding and face painting to add to the festival atmosphere.

The FA Girls’ Football Festivals are a joint initiative between The FA and Continental Tyres, providing girls aged five to 16 with an exciting, interactive football experience for those new to the game and regular players, with an overall intention of increasing participation in girl’s football. Since their inauguration in 2011 over 45,000 girls have taken part in a FA Girls’ Football Festival, and with their travelling nature, girls from all over the country have had the opportunity to experience the fun filled day.

"perfect opportunity to inspire girls throughout Doncaster to get involved in the game"

Marzena Bogdanowicz, The FA’s Head of Commercial and Marketing for Women’s Football said:  “The FA – with our Gameplan for Growth - remain committed to doubling girls’ football participation by 2020. The FA Girls’ Football Festival in association with Continental Tyres is a perfect opportunity to inspire girls throughout Doncaster to get involved in the game."

The participants will get the chance to play with some of the stars of Women’s Football, as two members of The FA WSL will be there to meet, chat and have a kick-about with the girls. They will be accompanied by one of the world’s leading professional football freestylers, Charlotte Lade, who will be demonstrating her amazing football skills.
