SHCFA Under 16s Cup Final settled by the only goal of the game

In a tense and very evenly contested S&HCFA Under 16 Youth Challenge Cup Final sponsored by The Source Academy, Sheffield FC(Greenhill JFC) just...

The first fifteen minutes of the game saw both teams trying to gain control with both sides having a couple of good efforts on goal.

The pace was fairly fast and furious with referee Matt Hardman ensuring the game flowed from end to end.

After 25 minutes a left foot effort from Handsworth’s captain Jamie Goldenburgh went just wide.

Then five minutes later Sheffield FC (Greenhill JFC) took the lead. A well worked move down the left hand side saw Jonty Manning played in and his cross from the left hand side was met a the far post Lewis Butcher who made no mistake. 1 – 0.

Five minutes before the break Handsworth were on the attack again winning a corner which unfortunately missed everyone and went through for a goal kick.

Two minutes later and Handsworth found their way through against but keeper Oliver Barnes saved really well with his feet and then saved the follow up shot as well.

The second half followed much the same pattern, with both sides to looking to score but coming up against two well marshalled and sturdy defences.

In the end, Sheffield FC (Greenhill JFC) managed to hold on and see the game out to clinch the win. A good game with both teams giving their all.

Well done to the four match officials, referee Matt Hardman, the two assistant referees Dan Brown and Josh Drake, and 4th official Tony Tierney, who made sure the game flowed.

The medals and cup were presented by Dale Robinson, Head of Sales, Marketing and PR at The Source Academy and Dale is seen in the photo presenting the cup to Sheffield FC (Greenhill JFC) captain Harvey Allatt.
