Volunteer Stories

Every volunteer has a different story....hear from ours

“I'm purely in football because of enjoyment and to develop the skills and abilities of children. Being thanked recently by clubs and parents for getting kids into teams is pleasing.”Danny - U9s Manager

“I am part of the committee at AFC Emley. My main job on match days is working in 'dugout diner' where we prepare match day hospitality and serve foods for drinks to the fans. The club has a five star food hygiene rating and I have taken my level 1 food hygiene certificate. I've made many new friends through the football club , we attend all home and most away games as a family. My partner is the club photographer and both our boys get involved with the club.”

Jayne –Committee Member

“I'd be a rich man if I had a £1 for every time someone who plays walking football told me how much they look forward to our sessions. I do not have a title. All I do is provide a communication focal point and organize teams for Barnsley Pals' friendly games, tournaments and our local league matches and turn up to play in our regular mixed ability sessions. Great exercise, good company, but, above all fun!”
