Spring Fest

Be part of Spring Fest

Join in with our next women’s recreational football festival on Saturday 23rd April.

Ahead of the UEFA Women’s Euro 2022 coming to Sheffield and Rotherham this summer, the Sheffield & Hallamshire County FA is inviting women in the borough to take part in their recreational football festival, Spring Fest.

Spring Fest follows on from the success of Winter Fest, which saw over 40 women attend a festive themed recreational football session at St. George’s Park Thorncliffe. This is yet another opportunity provided by the County FA to show that women are never too old, too in-experienced or too unfit to play the beautiful game.

Aimed at women currently involved in recreational football, or those looking to start, Spring Fest is open to women of all abilities – whether you’re already part of a team or session, haven’t played in years, or have never kicked a ball in your life.

It’s all about fun, laughter and enjoying the game, giving women the opportunity to come down as a group of friends and see what recreational football is about with various prizes up for grabs such as the most spirited player. All teams will have the chance to play each other, with rolling substitutions so players can tap out at any time. All you need is a pair of trainers and you’re in.

The event will be followed by refreshments and an opportunity to socialise. It is a great chance to meet new people, play in a friendly and enthusiastic environment and find out more about what your next steps in continuing your football journey are.

Sara Harnett, women’s recreational football officer, said: “Following on from the success of Winter Fest, we cannot wait to see familiar and new faces this April at Spring Fest in Rotherham. It’s such a vibrant day with a chance to socialise in your own group but also meet other women who are claiming or reclaiming the game.”

Spring Fest takes place on Saturday 23 April, 11am - 2.30pm, at Rotherham Football Centre, Eastwood Trading Estate, Chesterton Rd, Eastwood, Rotherham S65 1SU. Cost of entry is £10 per team and all teams need to be a minimum of five players and maximum of eight.
