SHCFA To Host Female Football Series Event

Saturday 14th March

The first round of the Female series was held at Villa Park in early February providing an opportunity for disabled female footballers to compete against teams from the Birmingham, West Riding, Leicestershire and Staffordshire regions.

Sheffield & Hallamshire County FA will host the next round at St.Georges Park Graves on the 14th March with registrations open now.

HOW DID THE LAST ROUND GO?

Both the silver and bronze competitions went right down to the wire but Aston Villa ran out winners in both competitions at their home venue. There was so much to celebrate,  with special guests in attendance and other activities on offer throughout the afternoon to create a wider experience and lasting memory of the day.

Football freestyler Charlotte Lade attended the event and showcased her skills before running a skills workshop for all participants. Kerri Welsh, Marisa Ewers and Natalie Haigh from Aston Villa Women FC also attended the event, where they interacted with the players and took photos throughout.

Aston Villa Foundation set up a Fun Zone on one of the pitches, which allowed everyone in attendance to take part in football challenges and have fun with their teammates between matches.

WHAT IS THE FORMAT?

Fixtures are 5v5 and a split into silver and bronze categories, corresponding to the mobility and understanding of the players within each team.

HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED?

Clubs can register for the event by contacting your County FA disability football development officer. Alternatively, if you would like to register as an individual please contact: Samuel.firth@sheffieldfa.com
