Sheffield Senior Charity Cup Fixture

Calum Oakenfold
Bramall Lane

One of this region’s most popular charities is to benefit from a special celebration match to be staged at Bramall Lane.

Proceeds from The Sheffield Senior Charity Cup game will go to Macmillan Cancer Support with the Sheffield and Hallamshire County FA delighted that local football and its followers will get the chance to show their support for such a worthy cause.

It is regrettable that Frickley Athletic were not able to take their place in this season’s Senior Cup Final but it has been replaced by what we see as a game of celebration for the other finalists North Gawber Colliery and their opposition.

They will face a representative side from their own league, the County Senior League, and this will be a great opportunity for all these players from both teams to play at a Premier League ground, none of whom would have had the opportunity without this game.

We are delighted that the proceeds from this game will be donated to Macmillan Cancer Support. This is part of the Sheffield & Hallamshire CFA’s charity initiative to help and support all players and those involved within the football family.

The game will played on Thursday, May 23rd at Bramall Lane, kick off 7.15pm

At the conclusion of the game, North Gawber Colliery will receive the Sheffield & Hallamshire CFA Senior Cup, one of the oldest cups in world football, first competed for in 1876.

We are so pleased that “the pram-man” John Burkhill, a prolific fundraiser for Macmillan Cancer Support for many years, will present the trophy.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Sheffield United and representatives from all those involved who have been steadfast in their support for our premier cup competition.

The Sheffield & Hallamshire CFA hope this will be a wonderful occasion for all those involved.
