Supporting Students to Develop in the Sport Industry

Sarah Wood
Free event for students within higher and further education

After the resounding success of the first ever Higher and Further Education Development Event last year, Sheffield and Hallamshire County FA Youth Council are delighted to announce the event will be returning to Sheffield Hallam University once again this month at the Collegiate Campus.

The event, which will be held on Tuesday 20th November, is designed to provide opportunities, deliver new skills and increase employability for young people in the region. The evening will kick off at 5:30pm with a keynote speech which will be followed by three thought provoking workshops, delivered by both County FA and Sheffield Hallam staff, before rounding off with another keynote speech to close the evening at 8:30pm.

The three workshops will be delivered by knowledgeable and experienced individuals in their recognised fields from both the County FA and Sheffield Hallam. The content delivered in the workshops will include developing a coaching philosophy, designing inclusive sessions and discovering work related opportunities in the region. Both keynotes are to be given by former Youth Council members who have since graduated from University and gained employment in the sports sector at a University and professional football team. The speakers will outline their own journey and the opportunities they were able to take advantage of as well as giving advice to young people wanting to follow similar paths.

"It is set to be a fantastic evening of learning, sharing, networking and opportunity and it is FREE to attend. If you are in higher or further education and interested in a career in sport then this is a great chance to boost your awareness of the sector and also your CV" (Adam Livingston, Youth Council Chair)
