Sheffield & Hallamshire County FA Youth Council are an active group of young volunteers from across the county who deliver on projects to support football for young people from within the area. They are looking for new recruits to join their team for the 2018-19 football season.

Why apply?

Joining our Youth Council will aid your transferable skills and development through leadership skills, communication and teamwork all whilst supporting the County FA in delivering their goals. Working with a like-minded team of young people focusing on areas of your strengths or in areas for development covering a range of topics including disability and women and girls

- Each member of our Youth Council is assigned a mentor for the year that will guide and support them as volunteers but also as individuals, improving their personal skills and improving their employability. 
- Volunteering is not only very rewarding but it is a fantastic way for young people to boost their CVs and get noticed when applying for jobs.
- With the chance to attend St Georges Park in which you will work with young people and FA staff from all over the country further aiding and developing your skills 
- Help to organise and deliver a number of projects and events including Football futures camp 
- Free kit to ensure you can be as professional as possible when working with or representing the Youth Council

“I would not be where I am today without Sheffield & Hallamshire County FA Youth Council. Before taking part in the Youth Council I was already a player, coach and referee. Been part of the Youth Council guided me to my true passion and future career in Football Development. It has been a very important step in my career and has led me in to many amazing and life changing opportunities including the chance to attend the FA National Football Futures Camp and the Youth Sport Trust National Talent Camp. From here I have then been selected to mentor on the FA National Young Coach Development Programme and then go to South Korea to mentor on the United Nations Sport Development and Peace Camp.

Who should apply?

The Youth Council is open to anyone aged 14-24 years old, regardless of your background or experience of football.  However we do expect you to be committed and passionate about developing local football.  We’re looking for people with a range of different skills, someone who has good team working skills and an ambition to develop themselves.  Being part of the group will help you develop other skills such as leadership and communication.

What is the commitment?

Each year you will be required to attend three full day meetings across the season and support with the organising and deliverer of a Football Futures Camp plus any other projects required. The commitment can be as big or small as you can manage but the more you put in the more you will get out!

There will also be lots of opportunities to volunteer with the County FA at their events throughout the year.

As this role involves direct access to young persons under the age of eighteen, within the context of the job or any subsequently related activities or responsibilities, the successful candidates will undergo a thorough screening process, which will include a Criminal Records Check if over the age of 16 to ensure their suitability for the role. Please be aware that if you turn 16 years of age during your appointment as a Youth Council member you be required to carry out n FA CRC Check on your 16th birthday.

All successful candidates will be required to undertake safeguarding training appropriate to the role and will have to adhere to the CFA’s Volunteer Code of Conduct.
