SHCFA Youth Council Annual Camp 2017

Recently the Sheffield & Hallamshire County FA Youth Council organised a two day Football Futures Camp for 14-18 year olds, to give young people...

The Youth Council, led by Chairman Rob Woodburn delivered a fantastic experience which will hopefully inspire the young people who attended to get involved in Football.

The Camp this year took place at Barnsley College with over 35 young people took part in the two day camp which covered three different workshops followed by a tournament which was refereed by the young leaders involved.

The first workshop was refereeing where the young leaders went through the Laws of the Game and duties expected by a referee. They then all had the opportunity to their skills into practice.

The second workshop was all around Leadership, looking at how leaders can inspire and communicate to deliver outcomes.

The third session – a clear favourite for the young leaders – was the disability coaching workshop where they discovered how to deal with different situations and the difficulties some people face in terms of access.

After the tournament all the young leaders heard from Melisa Burgin, an S&HCFA Level 5 referee, with her story of how she has progressed as a player and referee.

Overall it was a fantastic two days and S&HCFA hope to have inspired the young leaders to volunteer within the game at any level.

If you would like to get involved as a young volunteer then our Youth Council is currently looking for more members to join their growing group: http://www.sheffieldfa.com/shcfa-docs/vacancies

Can we sincerely thank Barnsley College for their hospitality.
