England game for Liam Marsh

Sheffield & Hallamshire County FA referee Liam Marsh, pictured centre on the photo, has been chosen as one of the Assistant Referees of the...

The match officials have been appointed through the FA CORE Programme and 19 year old Liam is thrilled to have been selected for the game.

He said: “I am honoured and delighted to have been appointed to this international fixture. I could not have done this without the help from the Referee Development Programme at Sheffield & Hallamshire County FA and my performance coach Dave Benton. It just goes to show that if you work hard at something, anything is possible!"

Liam’s biggest game locally, so far, was to referee last season’s County Senior League Cup Final and his target for the coming season is to gain promotion to Level 4 and then keep working hard and hopefully moving up the refereeing ladder.

Craig Grundy, S&HCFA Football Development Officer (Referee’s) said: “This appointment is great news for Liam and also for the County FA.  It shows that with the right attitude, commitment and talent that referees can progress. For a referee who officiates in the NCEL, CSL and Worksop Sunday League this is a great achievement. Well done Liam.”
