Sheffield United Ladies FC are welcoming Jersey FA Ladies for a “Friendship Game” on Sunday 23rd April. The game will be played on Bramall Lane with a 2pm kick off.
Jersey FA were fully aware of how much Sheffield United FC is developing and promoting Ladies and girls football within the Club and looking to climb the ladder of Women’s football and this lead to Jersey FA contacting Sheffield United to look for a fixture as they are also looking to raise their profile as they seek to gain UEFA recognition and rank alongside the likes of Gibraltar who have recently gained UEFA status.
Jersey FA Ladies are the current Island Games Champions and will be using the game as part of their preparation to defend their title.
Sheffield United Ladies FC currently sit 2nd in their League. With 5 games to go they require 3 wins to guarantee promotion to the WPL Midlands Division 1 which is then just 2 promotions away from the WSL, the top level of Women’s’ football.
SUFC Ladies General Manager Lee Walshaw added;” This is a great opportunity for our Ladies to play another game on Bramall Lane, to help raise their profile and let people see that everybody at SUFC is serious about Ladies and girls football.
Hopefully we’ll get a decent crowd in to support them. Our main aim is promotion which is all in our hands as we look to start the journey through the leagues. All around the Club there’s a fantastic buzz at the minute on the back of our 1st Team winning promotion. It’d be great if by the end of April we are celebrating a double promotion”
Prices for the game are just £3 and £2 for u16’s
