At least one new team will be appearing in this year’s Sheffield & Hallamshire County FA Senior Cup final this season. Last night’s draw, that took place live on Radio Sheffield’s Football Heaven show, saw Athersley Recreation first out of the bag to give them the opportunity to host their semi-final against Oughtibridge WMSC.
In the other semi final, Frickley Athletic, last season’s winners, will be at home to Worksop Parramore.
The draw was made by Radio Sheffield presenter Rob Staton, and the games will take place on dates to be arranged between the clubs by the end of April.
The final venue and date has yet to be finalised.
Of the four teams remaining only Frickley, who are currently in the bottom half of the Evo-Stik League, have played in the final before. Their opponents Worksop Parramore from the Northern Counties East League Premier division are sitting mid table but with games in hand of a number of the teams above them.
Athersley in their first season in the NCEL Premier are also mid table. Their semi final opponents Oughtibridge are at the moment 10 points clear at the top of the Pete’s Patisserie County Senior League Premier Division, having played a few more games than the teams below them.
So from Sheffield & Hallamshire County FA it is a big thank you to Radio Sheffield for hosting the Senior Cup Semi Final draw.
