The weekly training will take place on Monday evenings from 5.45pm to 6.45pm for five to eight-year-olds, and Saturday mornings from 10.00am to 11.30am for nine to thirteen-year-olds.
Run in association with Sheffield and Hallamshire FA, the main focus of the training will be making sure the children have fun. The sessions are aimed at teaching children about the tactics of the game as well as the importance of fitness and nutrition.
Steve Culf, general manager at Westfield Sports Centre, which is operated by Sheffield International Venues, said: “Hopefully these new sessions will allow the children to improve their football and interactive skills whilst having lots of fun at the same time.
“It coincides well with the news of Sheffield’s selection for the 2018 World Cup bid, and who knows, we may unearth a future England star!”
The sessions start from £3.50 per week on the outdoor football pitches.
