From forecourt to football pitch

Sheffield & Hallamshire FA have welcomed Joanna Thorpe to the Football Development Team as Coach Education Officer. Joanna has swapped life from the car dealership forecourt, for a new career working for the County FA.

Joanna joins Sheffield & Hallamshire FA from Rotherham based, Euro Motor Company, after working for the local car dealership for the last 13 years in various roles, including her most recent as Service Manager, and secretary to the Managing Director.

Joanna is a life long fan of football, brought up with a family all supporting Sheffield United. Her family history includes several professional footballers in the family history, with cousin Ritchie Humphries, currently playing for Hartlepool United.

Joanna is married and lives in Sheffield with her Husband, who happens to be a Sheffield Wednesday fan and her two children. Grassroots football plays a part in home life, with her son playing for Beighton Magpies, and her husband has recently just completed is FA Level 1 and Level 2 qualifications.

Joanna said “I am already enjoying my new role; it is a totally new challenge, in something completely different to anything I have done previously. I am looking forward to getting stuck into my new role, look to see what can be added and how we can make improvements in order to maximise the development and delivery of our courses across our area.”

Joanna will be responsible for all matters related to coach education courses for Sheffield & Hallamshire FA, including planning, administration and facilitating the promotion of all courses.
