Benefits of affiliation to the County FA

There are real and tangible benefits of playing affiliated football, please see below some of the benefits of affiliation:

  • Administers over 45 leagues and competitions within the region
  • Affiliates approximately 2,500 teams, not including small sided football
  • Provides 8 challenge cup competitions for over 800 teams
  • Upholds the Laws of the Game through a fair and transparent discipline process involving approximately 11,000 cases a year
  • Develop football ensuring that all members of society have access to the game without exclusion or prejudice
  • Work in partnership with agencies, including local authorities and education authorities, schools, colleges, FURD, NACRO, DofE, probation service, etc
  • Work with under represented groups including girls/women, youth and disabled participants to increase participation for under represented groups
  • Provides an extensive schools programme using football to address social cohesion, health and education issues for young people
  • Assist The F.A. and the Football Foundation administer grants to clubs and leagues designed to help them improve facilities, administration and participation totaling over £2.6million in 2009
  • Provided grants to leagues, players, referees and clubs totaling £17,815 in 2009. This does not include subsidies provided for coach and education courses.
  • Administer a benevolent fund aimed at supporting those members deserving of financial assistance
  • Provide Coach & Education and Medical Courses for over 2000 people a year ensuring that all participants have access to quality provision
  • Provides holiday football camps for primary school children
  • Administers and promotes a kitemark for quality for clubs and the RESPECT programme
  • Provides a comprehensive Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults programme
  • Provide a handbook containing the Rules and Regulations, Articles of Association and contact details
  • Provides publications with information about football development, coach & education courses, club administration and the disciplinary process
  • Provides verbal and written advice for club and league volunteers
  • Recruits, trains and allocates referees
  • Provides a referee allocation service for leagues
  • Provides a newsletter and monthly e-zine containing articles to both inform and provoke the development of football
  • Provides a website with information and access for volunteers to player registrations, suspensions, referees and clubs
  • Provides a framework for fixtures for all clubs and leagues in liaison with the local authority
  • Provides an arbitration and appeals process for clubs
  • Provides a debt recovery service for clubs and leagues
  • Provides regional and national playing opportunities for U18 boys and U16 girls
  • Provides a player registration system with online access for clubs and leagues
  • Looking to provide discounted merchandise, kit and equipment for members
