Team manager Mel Woodhall and County FA Committee members have been out and about during the close season giving presentations with various leagues to promote the team, the purpose and benefits of the representative team for the region and to canvas for new players.
Following this recruitment drive, trials were held for prospective players with the most promising youngsters from clubs been selected to fly the flag for Sheffield & Hallamshire CFA.
In preparation the team played a number of friendly matches against the following local sides:

Handsworth Juniors U19`s
Harworth Colliery U19`s
Scunthorpe United’s U18`s.
Over 50 players have been trailed and participated in the above friendly games, and the Sheffield & Hallamshire CFA would like to thank the following teams for nominating players:

The teams first league match was called off at the weekend (4th October) against Westmoreland, so the first outing will be for the first round of The FA County Youth Cup.

The next league fixture in the Association of Northern Counties League 2 is at home against East Riding CFA on Saturday 25th October 2008, venue to be confirmed.
