Who is this course for?
This course is available to all Goalkeeping coaches who are holders of the 1st4sport Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Football, working with a team who wish to develop their coaching ability of goalkeepers at junior, youth or non-League levels.

Course Duration: 21 Hours

Frequency: 1 scheduled per year
Pre-requisites: Minimum 1st4sport Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Football
The course is 21 hours, held over 3 days with both theory and practical elements. On completion of the course candidates should be able to:
- Demonstrate an understanding of specific warm up and cool down techniques for goalkeepers
- Coach goalkeeping individual techniques, including footwork, general handling techniques, shot stopping, goal keeper distribution and shot stopping, diving saves, dealing 1 v 1 situations and crosses.
- Demonstrate how to develop and improve goalkeeper’s technique
- The theoretical elements of the course will consolidate the key technical aspects of goalkeeping together with the Role of the Goalkeeper Coach, the development of young goalkeepers and a consideration of growth and development.
Assessment Pre-requisites:
- Up-to-date FA Safeguarding Children certificate (within last 3 years)
- Up-to-date Emergency First Aid certificate (within last 3 years)
- All portfolio tasks
- Successful delivery of a 2 x 20 minute practical goalkeeping session.
- All sessions must be attended
