Goal Keeping Course Level 2

This course is a nationally recognised qualification providing candidates with the further practical knowledge and ability to organise and develop key aspects related to goalkeeping skills and techniques. It will include clear guidance on the preparation and planning required to progress both skill and technical practices in a safe environment. Awarded by The Football Association.

Who is this course for?

This course is available to all Goalkeeping coaches who are holders of the 1st4sport Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Football, working with a team who wish to develop their coaching ability of goalkeepers at junior, youth or non-League levels.

Minimum Age: 17 Years
Course Duration: 21 Hours
Price: Online Booking - £150 per Candidate
Postal Booking - £153 per Candidate
Frequency: 1 scheduled per year
Pre-requisites: Minimum 1st4sport Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Football

The course is 21 hours, held over 3 days with both theory and practical elements. On completion of the course candidates should be able to:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of specific warm up and cool down techniques for goalkeepers
  • Coach goalkeeping individual techniques, including footwork, general handling techniques, shot stopping, goal keeper distribution and shot stopping, diving saves, dealing 1 v 1 situations and crosses.
  • Demonstrate how to develop and improve goalkeeper’s technique
  • The theoretical elements of the course will consolidate the key technical aspects of goalkeeping together with the Role of the Goalkeeper Coach, the development of young goalkeepers and a consideration of growth and development.

Assessment Pre-requisites:

  • Up-to-date FA Safeguarding Children certificate (within last 3 years)
  • Up-to-date Emergency First Aid certificate (within last 3 years)
  • All portfolio tasks
  • Successful delivery of a 2 x 20 minute practical goalkeeping session.
  • All sessions must be attended
