Where do I start in my coaching career – what is the structure of the qualifications available?

The first qualification on the coaching ladder is the Level 1 Certificate in Coaching Football – this qualification is ideal for someone with little or no experience of coaching and wants to help young people develop the basics of the sport.

It is recommended that this qualification is completed before you progress to the Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Football, an intensive course requiring a significant coaching commitment, an appropriate level of fitness and recent experience of playing the sport.

If you anticipate working with players at academy level you might consider the Level 3 Certificate in Coaching Football (UEFA B Coaching award). All the above qualifications are developed by FA Learning/The Football Association and awarded by 1st4sport Qualifications.

Can I go straight to UEFA 'B'?

Access to the Level 3 Certificate in Coaching Football (UEFA B Coaching Award) is only available to candidates who have achieved the FA Coaching Certificate or the Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Football. All national course details can be viewed by clicking here as well as many local courses. Where County FA details are not available you can contact the County FA directly.

I have lost my certificate how can I get a copy?

Duplicate certificates for either FA or 1st4sport Qualifications can be provided if a record of your achievement of the qualification is held on our qualifications database.

There is a charge of £11.75 for this service and a form to request a replacement is available from 1st4sport Qualifications 0113 290 7610.

How many times can I be reassessed?

A candidate is usually registered for a qualification for two years, from the start of the course. In principle you can be re-assessed any number of times during that period. However, this will be usually be dependant on the action plan given out by your external assessor. Candidates needing to be reassessed on more than 2 occasions should consider redoing the course of training.
