Here's how to become a referee

Want to become a referee Sheffield & Hallamshire County FA run regular referee training courses throughout the season. and all over the region.

What are the costs?

The course fee is £75 (with a £20 discount for under 16's). This includes basic training, an FA CRB check (required for over 18's), safeguarding children training and an FA welcome to refereeing pack.

Once you have refereed 6 11 a side matches, you can claim a refund of £30 (£10 for under 16's) from the FA.

Do I get paid?

Referees get paid £25 per match for open age football, and for U16-U18 games. £18 for U13-U15 and £16 for U11 & U12. Minisoccer pays £10 per match. This includes games refereed as part of the course, so it really pays to be a referee!
