Development - take your skills to the next level

Clubs

Sheffield & Hallamshire FA are keen to support as many people with a disability or additional needs to get into playing football whether it be through a mainstream, pan-disability or disability-specific football club.

Pan-Disability Clubs

Pan-disability football is open to people with a range of disabilities or additional needs which restricts their ability to participate in mainstream football.

The Sheffield & Hallamshire Ability Counts League is a pan-disability football league providing opportunities for males and females, adult and youth, to play football. The League comprises I of in excess of 10 clubs who in turn who have a combined total of over 30 teams.

Disability Specific Clubs

The number of disability specific football clubs within the Sheffield & Hallamshire FA region is quite limited at present, but in time it is hoped that this number will grow over time. For details of disability specific football opportunities click on the relevant links on the left of this screen (e.g. amputee football).

Inclusive Clubs

Sheffield & Hallamshire FA are in the process of identifying mainstream grassroots football clubs who wish to receive guidance, support and training in order to be recognised as an inclusive football club for people with disabilities and additional needs.

The aim is that players with a disability or additional needs who are able to play in a mainstream football environment should have the opportunity to do so. However, it is important to ensure that this is a safe, welcoming and understanding environment so that if there are any reasonable adjustments that need to be made when accommodating such a player the club can do so in and informed, appropriate and sensitive manner.

Any mainstream club interested in becoming an inclusive club should contact Chris Bly, Senior Football Development Officer at Sheffield & Hallamshire FA on 0114 241 4992 or send an email to seniofdo@sheffieldfa.com.
